Day One

Pete-We arrived in Boise but the trailer didn't make it. After a test run in Portland we realized the trailer would not make it across the country. So after spending our last few precious moments in Portland selling and shipping the rest of our belongs, we bought and loaded a Yakima bubble and hit the road Monday afternoon. It was hot as hell and Ele suffered the worst. Aidan did awesome on his first extended road trip with a little help from his friends Nemo and Syd. The drive had some major elevation changes and made us even more grateful we weren't hauling an extra 2000 pounds. All in all it was an uneventful first leg. I promise the next leg will have alot more opportunity for us to take and post some pictures. Today we will push for another 450 miles to make it to Yellowstone National Park.

P.S. We actually stayed in Nampa just outside of Boise and it is the smellest place we have ever been, it smells like freshly baked cow dung pie, mmm.

Jamie-What can I say? As most of you know I have never really lived anywhere besides Portland, so needless to say I was expecting to be a nervous wreck the whole way, but even as we were passing over the OreIda (Oregon/Idaho) border I never felt more happy and positive about the whole thing. Like Pete said, Aidan was a total trooper for that 7 hours of driving even as were were going over the pass and our ears were popping. Unfortunately for Pete and I, I am completely useless for this whole trip (at least in the car), because I cannot read a map let alone a sentence of any kind, without getting car sick. I am overly excited about getting to Yellowstone. The last time I was there I was about 9 yrs old, and it was a blast. I think Aidan will have the most fun, it's just too bad that he won't remember it in a month. Well, we gotta get back on the road, plus Pete is anxious to use his new camera so we can actually get a picture for this blog. To all my friends and family: I miss you all so much already especially you mom. xoxoxox

P.S.S. To Mr. and Mrs. Adam Graves: We want to thank you again for everything you did for us in the five days between moving out of our house and heading to Rhode Island. Sorry Aidan wrecked your house (at least it turned out to be fixable), and we used your driveway and garage as a storage unit. feel free to come take over our home in RI anytime.

Hey guys,

I'm glad to hear the first leg was a success. Sarah got back late last night, so we are working on adjusting back to life as we know it. Sophie misses you and Sarah says hello.

The Mad Grafitti Artist struck again... there are little scribbles on the sheets that were on the futon! :) I'm sure they'll come out the same way the others did. That kid's gonna be an artist come hell or high water.

We're warming up here, so I hope you guys get comfortable weather. Oh, I forgot to mention that Aidan left his monkey behind the couch. Let us know if you want it shipped out.

---Adam.
